One of Pittsburgh's most famous residents, Mr. Rogers, said it best:
"We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say, 'It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.' Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes."
The first step towards being a hero and protecting our environment is to make a small change. Will you take the Pittsburgh Pledge? Sign up, write down a change you plan to make, and commit to talking to 5 of your neighbors about steps you are taking to reduce your carbon footprint. By helping each other stick to our goals, we can make a difference!
The people of Pittsburgh know pollution can kill our planet, just like it almost killed our city. The people of Pittsburgh also know that steel and coal are our past, not our future. The Paris Climate Accord is the key to moving our planet in the right direction. Since the United States is no longer part of the Paris Climate Accord, it is up to its citizens to pick up the slack. We created the Pittsburgh Climate Accord hoping that it will help with this effort.
